Serve as an ambassador of QCT by greeting and seating patrons.
Pre-Show Responsibilities:
- arrive 45 mins before curtain
- report to volunteer station in board room to check in at kiosk or on phone
- collect button and confirm assigned area
- take program baskets into auditorium
- walk aisles to pick up trash and retrieve discarded programs
- attend pre-show informational meeting held by House Manager or Head Usher
- greet patrons directed to you by Head Usher
- help patrons find their seats walking with them as needed
- hand programs to patrons
- walk aisles with "Turn off cell phone" signs 10 mins prior to curtain
All FOH volunteers receive one complimentary ticket to watch the show you volunteer for if seats are available.
During the Show:
- assist with seating of latecomers
- approach patrons taking photos or video as quietly as possible and ask them to stop or alert House Manager
- approach patrons being disruptive as quietly as possible and ask them to step into the lobby or alert House Manager
- serve as a point of contact during the show in the event of an emergency
During Intermission:
- assist with opening and closing doors
- remain outside each door to guide patrons to restrooms and concessions and make sure no food or drink is brought into the house
Post-Show Responsibilities:
- open doors
- walk aisles to pick up trash, personal items and discarded programs
- collect recycled programs from bins and process
- turn in volunteer badge at end of shift and check out at kiosk or on phone
Dress and Decorum:
Ushers should be 18+ years. Students as young as 12 may volunteer with a parent or guardian.
Please wear smiles and clothes appropriate to the occasion. Shoes should be comfortable for walking and standing.
FOH volunteers may sit in designated seats during the show but need to continue to be alert to patrons' needs.
